Baseball Recap: Jersey Shore Takes a Loss

Jersey Shore extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 8-11 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the Milton Black Panthers. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Black Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Mazden Lupton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mason Winter, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Milton, with the win, they broke their 15-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Milton's side, Brayden Gower was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Gower has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Milton got a massive performance out of Brady Wolfe, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Wolfe a new career-high. Dominic Lytle was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jersey Shore will welcome Midd-West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Milton, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Selinsgrove at 4:30 p.m.
