Basketball Recap: Jackson Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jackson can now relate to. They took a 51-34 bruising from the St. Brendan Sabres on Thursday. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sabres apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2019.

Despite the loss, Jackson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mya Padilla dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. Padilla has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 11 times she's played.

Even though they lost, Jackson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

St. Brendan can attribute much of their success to Claudia Luis, who posted 17 points. Bella Perez was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for St. Brendan, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.

Jackson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Brendan, they will challenge Northwestern on Saturday. Northwestern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.
