Basketball Game Preview: Manley Wildcats vs. Wells Raiders

Manley has gone a perfect 3-0 against Wells recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wildcats will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Wells took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Manley, who comes in off a win.

Manley took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Phoenix Military 68-0. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaklaya Hunter, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 14 steals. Hunter's afternoon made it 22 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAhri Hayes, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards.

Manley was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-11, which was the final score in Wells' tilt against Little Village on Wednesday.

Manley pushed their record up to 1-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.7 points on average over those games. As for Wells, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Manley didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Wells in their previous meeting back in February, but they still walked away with a 58-52 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
