Baseball Game Preview: West Platte Bluejays vs. Lawson Cardinals

West Platte is 2-8 against Lawson since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bluejays will head out to square off against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. West Platte's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Lawson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

West Platte will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against North Andrew on Wednesday. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 11-2 victory. That looming 11-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bluejays yet this season.

Meanwhile, Lawson came up short against Maysville on Tuesday and fell 7-4. The contest marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lawson fell to 10-1. As for West Platte, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

West Platte might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Lawson in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Bluejays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
