Softball Game Preview: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Cocoa Tigers

The Cocoa Beach Minutemen will venture away from home to challenge the Cocoa Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cocoa Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.

Cocoa Beach lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Titusville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. Cocoa Beach put the hurt on Titusville with a sharp 15-5 win on Tuesday. Considering the Minutemen have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Zoe Vella made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. Vella was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those doubles were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kylie Kahl was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kaelin Goslin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Cocoa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Astronaut, falling 16-1.

Cocoa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kindle Gold, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Cocoa's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cocoa Beach, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Cocoa's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cocoa Beach has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Cocoa, though, as they've only averaged .259.
