Football Recap: Barrington Takes Down Ranked Fremd

Barrington faced Fremd in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Fillies/Broncos enjoyed a cozy 23-7 win over the Vikings. Winning may never get old, but the Fillies/Broncos sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Barrington was led to victory by Lamar Osterhues and Luke Tepas. Osterhues rushed for 112 yards and a pair of scores, while Tepas rushed for 43 yards and one TD. Osterhues has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Barrington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nick Marin, Brooks Howard, and Duke Matiyow picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Fremd's side was Charlie Ploder, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Barrington's record is now 6-1. As for Fremd, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 6-1.

Coming up, Barrington is taking a road trip to face off against Schaumburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fillies/Broncos will be up against the Saxons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Fremd, they will welcome Palatine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
