Basketball Recap: Boonsboro Comes Up Short

If Boonsboro was feeling good fresh off their 91-38 takedown of Catoctin last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Boonsboro Warriors had to suffer through a 77-49 loss at the hands of the North Hagerstown Hubs. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Hubs are ranked 63rd).

North Hagerstown got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Khalil Peggues out in front who posted eight points along with six boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Peggues a new career-high in steals. Braeden Griffin was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Boonsboro has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for North Hagerstown, their record is now 14-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boonsboro will square off against Williamsport at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Williamsport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for North Hagerstown, they will take on Governor Thomas Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
