Soccer Recap: Clarke County Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Clarke County can now relate to. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenvar Highlanders on Friday. While losing is never fun, Clarke County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Glenvar are ranked 12th).

Clarke County's goal came courtesy of Johnny Mercer, who's now up to 13 this season.

Clarke County's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Glenvar, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 22-0.

Clarke County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Glenvar, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Bruton on the 14th.
