Softball Game Preview: Curtis Vikings vs. Sumner Spartans

Curtis hasn't had much luck against Sumner recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will take on the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Curtis has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Curtis turned things around against South Kitsap on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wolves 13-11. Considering the Vikings' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Sumner came up short against Rogers on Tuesday and fell 8-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost three in a row.

Naya Alastra was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Hixon, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Sumner's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Curtis, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 4-13.

Curtis suffered a grim 16-10 defeat to Sumner in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
