Softball Game Preview: South Dearborn Knights vs. Rising Sun Shiners

The South Dearborn Knights will face off against the Rising Sun Shiners at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South Dearborn has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Rising Sun will arrive with three straight victories.

South Dearborn came up short against Greensburg on Saturday, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, Rising Sun got themselves on the board against South Ripley on Wednesday, but South Ripley never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Raiders.

Emily Oatman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Tamryn Miller was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Works, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Rising Sun pushed their record up to 4-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for South Dearborn, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
