Baseball Recap: Central Hinds Academy Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Central Hinds Academy extended their winning streak to eight on Thursday, bumping them up to 22-12. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the St. Aloysius Flashes. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 18, 2025, but that streak is no more.

Jay Shuff made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Shuff was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaden George, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Brayden Tackett, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Central Hinds Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

As for St. Aloysius, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-10. Flashes fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Central Hinds Academy since Thursday.

On St. Aloysius' side, Pierson Smith made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Central Hinds Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Jackson HomeSchool on the 18th. Hopefully St. Aloysius paid attention to the Cougars' matchup: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
