Volleyball Game Preview: Pioneer Patriots vs. Vanden Vikings

The Pioneer Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Vanden Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pioneer came up short against Vacaville on Wednesday, falling 3-0.

While Pioneer was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-18, 25-15.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Vanden, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Vacaville 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since March 29th.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Vanden who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-9.

Vanden pushed their record up to 20-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Pioneer, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Pioneer suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Vanden when the teams last played back in March. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
