Baseball Game Preview: Lawrence Cardinals vs. Northern Burlington Greyhounds

Lawrence hasn't had much luck against Northern Burlington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cardinals will face off against the Greyhounds. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lawrence 2.6, Northern Burlington 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lawrence is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Hamilton as they made off with a 12-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Northern Burlington had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Green Dragons.

Lawrence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Northern Burlington, their win bumped their record up to 23-1.

Lawrence suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Northern Burlington in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
