Basketball Recap: Ty'jahwuan Jackson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Oakwood

Quartz Hill's tournament run continued when they took on Oakwood on Tuesday. The Royals walked away with a 72-65 win over the Owls.

Quartz Hill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty'Jahwuan Jackson, who dropped a triple-double with 13 points, 24 rebounds, and ten assists. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last 31 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Henriquez, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 20 points and six rebounds.

Quartz Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Oakwood still got an impressive performance from Xander Lutz, who shot 53% from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Fletcher, who posted 19 points and eight boards.

The victory got Quartz Hill back to even at 1-1. As for Oakwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Quartz Hill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 90-52 win against Whittier on the 19th. As for Oakwood, they have also already played their next matchup, a 99-23 victory against South Gate on the 19th.
