Volleyball Recap: Corona del Sol Comes Up Short

Corona del Sol was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Hamilton Huskies, falling 3-0. The Aztecs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Corona del Sol couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Hamilton a tough time in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-19, 32-30.

Despite the loss, Corona del Sol saw an underclassman step up: freshman Evan Cornish had 13 digs. Cornish is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last three games he's played. Nicholas Hauer also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Hamilton can attribute much of their success to Ben Tynan, who had 11 digs and four assists. That's the most digs Tynan has posted over his last six contests.

Corona del Sol's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Hamilton, they moved to 3-8 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Corona del Sol has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Millennium on the 1st. As for Hamilton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Independence on the 28th.
