Softball Recap: Waukesha South Blackshirts vs. Waukesha West Wolverines

Waukesha South extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-5 in the process. They lost 15-3 to the Waukesha West Wolverines. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Alyson Staley and Layla Amerling did some serious damage despite the final result: Staley went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Amerling went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Amerling has hit this season.

As for Waukesha West, their record is now 5-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

On Waukesha West's side, they got a great performance from Ashlee Barry as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Barry has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Paige Kahle was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Walters, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Coincidentally, Waukesha South and Waukesha West will both be playing Arrowhead the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will head out to face the Warhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Blackshirts will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
