Basketball Game Preview: Frankfort Hot Dogs vs. Winamac Warriors

The Frankfort Hot Dogs will take on the Winamac Warriors in a tournament on Monday. Frankfort will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Saturday, Frankfort came up short against Sheridan and fell 53-43. While losing is never fun, the Hot Dogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 368th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 117th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jack Michael, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds. Those six rebounds gave him a new career-high. Charlie Beardsley was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Winamac unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Triton an easy 61-38 victory. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Frankfort will have to contain Justin Potthoff as he made an impact in Winamac's last game. He posted 12 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaybin Hines, who put up six points.

Frankfort's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Winamac, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Frankfort was able to grind out a solid win over Winamac in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 40-28. Does Frankfort have another victory up their sleeve, or will Winamac turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
