Softball Recap: Sickles Has No Trouble Against Tampa Bay Tech

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Strawberry Crest, Sickles was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Tampa Bay Tech Titans as Sickles made off with a 19-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Gryphons, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Lauren Larsen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Sickles got a massive performance out of Zoe Mello, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Paula Pumarejo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Sickles has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. Tampa Bay Tech's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Sickles will challenge Sarasota at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Sarasota's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Sickles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they will square off against Gaither at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Tampa Bay Tech's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
