Basketball Recap: Marion Comes Up Short

Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 31st straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Gananda Central Blue Panthers, falling 79-16. The Black Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-9.

Gananda Central found their leader in sophomore Cooper Grassel, who posted 20 points. The matchup was Grassel's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Switzer, who had 14 points.

Marion's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Gananda Central, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Marion will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Red Creek at 6:00 p.m. As for Gananda Central, they will head out on the road to square off against Lyons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gananda Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Lyons likes a good challenge.
