League recap: Salesianum tops East Orange Campus to extend winning streak

Salesianum extended the longest winning streak in Freelance this week by beating East Orange Campus, 42-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

Caravel took down Pallotti 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Pierce Ripanti ran for 126 yards and caught one passes for six yards in the win.

Christian Gwynn provided a threat through the air and on the ground as St. Elizabeth topped Laurel. He completed eight passes for 176 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 30 yards. Gwynn's favorite target this week was Adam Szczerba, who caught three passes for 94 yards.

Zachary Whitehead put up the best numbers through the air as St. Mark's bested Newark. He finished with five completions for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Whitehead's favorite target this week was Deandre Davis, who caught three passes for 56 yards.

The Vikings' Gwynn and Andre Patton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gwynn has thrown for 1055 yards this season, while Patton, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 37 catches for 531 yards. Ripanti from the Buccaneers leads the league in rushing with 563 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between St. Elizabeth and Delaware Military Academy. Joe Hemphill's team comes into the matchup ranked 10th in the state, while Delaware Military Academy ranks 14th.

Caravel led Freelance in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on the Panthers. Ripanti in the win.
