Volleyball Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. Woodbridge Warriors

The Irvine Vaqueros will square off against the Woodbridge Warriors at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Irvine and three for Woodbridge.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Irvine and University, and University kept the tradition alive. The Vaqueros took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans on Tuesday. While the Vaqueros didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-20 in the first set.

Irvine started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Woodbridge came up short against Portola on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-19, 25-15, 21-25, 25-14.

Woodbridge's loss dropped their record down to 8-12-1. As for Irvine, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Irvine skirted past Woodbridge 3-2 when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Do the Vaqueros have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
