Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Banning Pilots
The Cleveland Cavaliers will face off against the Banning Pilots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cleveland walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Kennedy 56-21 at home. Cleveland pushed the score to 48-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Kennedy had no chance of recovering from.
Kory Hall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 295 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Hall was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 69 yards. Donovan Powell and his 145 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Cleveland's victory.
Meanwhile, Banning got themselves on the board against Santee on Friday, but Santee never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 40-0 victory over the Falcons at home. Given Banning's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Santee is ranked 728th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Banning got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Robert Guerrero out in front who threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes, and also punched in a rushing score. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamari Westley, who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
Cleveland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Banning, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
