Preview: San Benito Greyhounds vs. Hanna Golden Eagles
San Benito is 2-8 against Hanna since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The San Benito Greyhounds will be playing at home against the Hanna Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
San Benito's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 74-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Los Fresnos. While losing is never fun, San Benito can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1095th, while Los Fresnos is ranked 368th).
Hanna posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They skirted past Rivera 56-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hanna.
Hanna found their leader in underclassman Rolando Roman, who scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Roman has scored all season. Jordan Matamoros was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
San Benito has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Hanna, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.
San Benito came up short against Hanna in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 57-52. Can San Benito avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
