Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Ridge Ravens vs. Monarch Coyotes

The Riverdale Ridge Ravens will head out to challenge the Monarch Coyotes at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Riverdale Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matches.

On Thursday, Riverdale Ridge was fully in charge, breezing past Boulder 70-22. The Ravens have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Monarch had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 44-31 victory over the Knights. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Knights are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverdale Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.6 points over those games. As for Monarch, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.

Riverdale Ridge strolled past Monarch in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 56-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverdale Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
