The Northland Prep Academy Spartans will challenge the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Northland Prep Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Northland Prep Academy made easy work of Greyhills Academy and carried off a 19-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.
Brock Cosper made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northland Prep Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8-1 otherwise. Cosper was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

In other batting news, Adam Cornn was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Northland Prep Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-0-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Colson Skersick was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Northland Prep Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Glendale Prep Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Gilbert Classical Academy on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 6-4. The Griffins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Eli Marsh was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Marsh was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Wil Rosenblum made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Northland Prep Academy now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Glendale Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northland Prep Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. However, it's not like Glendale Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
