Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Karnes City

Karnes City had won two straight games and Savion Nixon-Thompson did his part to make it three on Thursday. The Karnes City Badgers took their game with ease, bagging a 73-38 win over the Prairie Lea Indians thanks in part to Nixon-Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played.

Rene Martinez was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Karnes City's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Prairie Lea, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Karnes City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-45 win against Yoakum on the 26th. As for Prairie Lea, they will challenge Valor South Austin at 2:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Valor South Austin will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Prairie Lea surely won't give up without a fight.
