Basketball Game Preview: Damonte Ranch Mustangs vs. Piedmont Highlanders

The Damonte Ranch Mustangs will take on the Piedmont Highlanders in a tournament on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Damonte Ranch has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Piedmont will arrive with four straight victories.

Damonte Ranch came up short against Fernley on Tuesday, falling 67-47.

Despite the defeat, Damonte Ranch saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kylee Moscove posted 17 points along with seven boards and three steals. Those 17 points gave Moscove a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmine Monges, who put up six points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Piedmont). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Galena 64-18. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Piedmont's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Damonte Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
