After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last five matches, Clinton County finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cumberland County Panthers. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Clinton County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-6. As for Cumberland County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton County will square off against Cookeville at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs are facing the Cavaliers at the right time seeing as the Cavaliers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cumberland County, they will take on Monroe County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.22 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
