Softball Recap: Worcester Academy Hilltoppers vs. Kingswood Oxford Wyverns

Worcester Academy lost a close one when they played last Wednesday but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on Monday was a bit more commanding. They lost 9-2 to the Kingswood Oxford Wyverns.

For Kingswood Oxford's part, Alexis Nisyrios '27 made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Nisyrios '27 has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Nisyrios '27 was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Aniajah Sanchez ' 28 was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Aleis Gonzales '27, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Worcester Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Kingswood Oxford, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Worcester Academy will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Cushing Academy at 1:00 p.m. As for Kingswood Oxford, they will take on Miss Porter's at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kingswood Oxford's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Miss Porter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
