Football Recap: Chris Foster Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Smithville

Hatley won the last time they faced Smithville and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Seminoles with a sharp 34-14 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-8.

Hatley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chris Foster led the charge by rushing for 142 yards and one score on only 15 carries. Those 142 rushing yards gave Foster a new career-high. Braden Pyton was in the mix too, providing Hatley with three TDs.

Another reason for the win was Hatley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Cayden Ives was especially locked on to Smithville's QB and sacked him three times.

Hatley has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 42.5 points this season. As for Smithville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Hatley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 37-0 win against Mantachie on the 12th. As for Smithville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 34-14 defeat against Strayhorn on the 12th.
