Basketball Recap: Sidwell Friends Takes a Loss

Sidwell Friends suffered their closest loss since January 31st on Friday. They fell just short of the DeMatha Stags by a score of 44-41. The Quakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stags apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

DeMatha had a senior duo take command as Ashton (Ace) Meeks posted 19 points and Jaden Shoultz went 6-for-10 en route to 15 points. Shoultz is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Jaylen Ortiz also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Sidwell Friends' loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for DeMatha, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Sidwell Friends will challenge Bishop O'Connell at 4:40 p.m. on Sunday. As for DeMatha, they will be taking part in a tournament against Clinton Grace Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Stags will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
