Basketball Game Recap: Provo Bulldogs vs. Uintah Utes

Provo won the last time they faced Uintah, and Makai Allen did his part to make sure it happened again. The Provo Bulldogs walked away with a 74-64 win over the Uintah Utes on Tuesday thanks in part to Allen, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 40 points and nine assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Provo's points.

Another player making a difference was Crew DeMartini, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points along with five boards and four steals. Those 14 points gave him a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Uintah still got an impressive performance from Dauson Gardiner, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 21 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Owen, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Provo's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-6. As for Uintah, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.

When Provo and Uintah next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Provo will try to stop Layton Christian Academy's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Provo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season. Similarly, Uintah will try to stop Timpanogos' three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
