Basketball Recap: ALA - Gilbert North Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

ALA - Gilbert North won the last time they faced Gilbert Christian and things went their way on Friday too. The ALA - Gilbert North Eagles had just enough and edged the Gilbert Christian Knights out 60-58. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Knights are ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

ALA - Gilbert North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyle Speed, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. Speed has been hot, having posted ten or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Conner Morris, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jace Olson, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. That was a full 36.2% of Gilbert Christian's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Lucero, who put up 11 points and five assists.

ALA - Gilbert North has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Gilbert Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

ALA - Gilbert North didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-41 win against Apollo on the 21st. As for Gilbert Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 81-77 loss against Saguaro on the 21st.
