Football Recap: Rowan County Takes a Loss

Rowan County had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it nine. They came up short against the Boyd County Lions, falling 35-14. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

Matthew Hamilton threw for 72 yards on nine of 16 attempts. Jt Judd was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards.

As for Boyd County, their win bumped their record up to 6-3. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Rowan County: they've now won four in a row.

Kaleb Kelley had a dynamite game, picking up 135 receiving yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Rowan County will square off against Greenup County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will be up against the Musketeers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.88 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Boyd County, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lawrence County at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st.
