Preview: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Crisp County Cougars
After two games on the road, Columbus is heading back home. They will take on the Crisp County Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Columbus posted their biggest win since December 2, 2023 last Thursday. They blew past Thomasville 64-40. The win was just what Columbus needed coming off of a 71-50 loss in their prior game.
Columbus had a senior duo take command as Robert Hartford scored 15 points along with six assists and four steals and De'andre Wooten scored ten points along with nine assists and eight steals. Hartford has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Karson Baldwin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Crisp County suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Wilcox County by a score of 61-59.
Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Crisp County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Columbus came up short against Crisp County when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 56-52. Thankfully for Columbus, Jamarion Chambliss (who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
