Preview: Apponequet Regional Lakers vs. Old Rochester Regional Bulldogs
Apponequet Regional has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Old Rochester Regional Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Apponequet Regional came up short against Somerset Berkley Regional and fell 82-69. While losing is never fun, Apponequet Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Somerset Berkley Regional is ranked 11th).
Meanwhile, Old Rochester Regional waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They blew past Somerset Berkley Regional 71-51. Old Rochester Regional has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Apponequet Regional's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Old Rochester Regional, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Apponequet Regional ended up a good deal behind Old Rochester Regional when the teams last played last Friday, losing 78-62. Can Apponequet Regional avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
