Preview: Heritage Eagles vs. Regis Jesuit Raiders
Heritage is 0-9 against the Raiders since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Heritage Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Regis Jesuit Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Heritage is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Heritage struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Wolverines had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between Heritage and the Wolverines wasn't particularly close, with the Eagles falling 66-48. While losing is never fun, Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Wolverines are ranked seventh).
The losing side was boosted by Brayden Chaney, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Trystan Rangel, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, even though Douglas County scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, Regis Jesuit still came out on top. Regis Jesuit had just enough and edged the Huskies out 66-64. The win made it back-to-back wins for Regis Jesuit.
Lucas Dickinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Damarius Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Heritage's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Regis Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Heritage have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Regis Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Heritage came up short against the Raiders in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 63-56. Thankfully for Heritage, Tarea Fulcher (who scored 18 points along with five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
