Basketball Recap: Juarez-Lincoln Comes Up Short

Juarez-Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 47-23 to the Roma Gladiators. The Huskies lost against the Gladiators in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 60-14 score last time.

Alexa Verastegui was nothing short of spectacular for Roma: she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Verastegui a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Samantha Montemayor, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Juarez-Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Roma, they moved to 9-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Juarez-Lincoln will head out to challenge Mission at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Roma, they will venture away from home to square off against Cigarroa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Roma is facing Cigarroa at the right time seeing as Cigarroa is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
