Softball Game Preview: Waverly Wolverines vs. Chenango Forks Blue Devils

The Waverly Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Chenango Forks Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Waverly will be strutting in after a victory while Chenango Forks will be coming in after a defeat.

Waverly came out on top against Windsor Central on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run second inning. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Black Knights with a sharp 17-5 win. The Wolverines' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Chenango Forks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Oneonta, falling 13-1. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Waverly has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Chenango Forks, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Waverly suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Chenango Forks when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
