The third road game was the charm for Heritage Academy, as they earned their first away win of the season. They were the clear victors by a 21-4 margin over the Highland Prep West HORNETS on Monday. With that victory, the Heroes brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Paul (PJ) Soltero made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Soltero was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Isaias Ruiz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Maple, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Heritage Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Heritage Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4-1. As for Highland Prep West, their record is now 1-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Academy will face off against Tempe Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Highland Prep West, they will take on Mountainside at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
