Basketball Recap: Cheraw Falls Despite Big Games from De'shaun Drake and TJ Ford

Cheraw was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Union Academy Cardinals on the road by a 56-39 margin. The game marked the Braves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

TJ Ford and De'Shaun Drake certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ford posted 13 points, while Drake earned 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Newton, who put up five points.

Heath Lunsford went supernova for Union Academy, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Lunsford a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sam Additon, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards.

Cheraw's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Union Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Cheraw didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-40 win against Albemarle on the 28th. As for Union Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-55 victory against Anson on the 28th.
