Recap: Liberty Lions vs. Vista Grande Spartans

The Liberty Lions had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 54-27 stomp they got at home against Vista Grande. That looming 54-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Liberty yet this season.

Liberty's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Koker, who scored 14 points. The game was Koker's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Makenna Johnson, who scored 11 points.

Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 2-9-1. As for Vista Grande, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 7-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will face off against Queen Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Queen Creek comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Vista Grande will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cortez at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
