Baseball Game Preview: Cherry Hill West Lions vs. Cherokee Chiefs

The Cherry Hill West Lions will head out to face off against the Cherokee Chiefs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherry Hill West will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Cherry Hill West had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Williamstown on Saturday. The Lions put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 14-4 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Cherokee fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Eastern on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-1. That makes it the first time this season the Chiefs have let down their home crowd.

Cherokee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brett Jackson, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Cherry Hill West's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Cherokee, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 20-2.

Cherry Hill West might still be hurting after the 11-5 loss they got from Cherokee in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
