Football Recap: Wortham Bulldogs vs. Valley Mills Eagles
Wortham had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Valley Mills Eagles by a score of 24-12 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Wortham can attribute much of their success to Jon Ross Black, who rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns. Black didn't just play on offense: he also made 13 total tackles and defended a pass.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wortham will venture away from home to face off against Rio Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Valley Mills, they will head out to square off against Holland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
