Baseball Game Preview: John F. Kennedy Rockets vs. La Vernia Bears

The John F. Kennedy Rockets will face off against the La Vernia Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as John F. Kennedy comes in on four and La Vernia on five.

John F. Kennedy is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since March 25, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Gonzales 3-1.

MAX GARZA spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, MARKY HERNANDEZ was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JORGE PINA, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, La Vernia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Boerne on Tuesday.

La Vernia's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for John F. Kennedy, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
