Baseball Game Preview: James Lick Comets vs. Overfelt Royals

For the second straight game, James Lick will face off against Overfelt. James Lick is taking a road trip to square off against Overfelt at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

James Lick managed to slip by Overfelt the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. James Lick came up short against Overfelt on Tuesday, falling 9-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Comets were not able to get on the board.

For Overfelt's part, ELIJAH CASTANEDA-AZCUETA was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). CASTANEDA-AZCUETA was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, BRIAN BECERRA DADO was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Overfelt's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was MATT DIAZ, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Overfelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Lick only posted an OBP of .346.

The win was the third in a row for Overfelt, bringing their record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for James Lick, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. James Lick hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Overfelt struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
