Baseball Recap: Erick Comes Up Short

Erick extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They came up short against the Cordell Blue Devils, falling 21-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

Cordell's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-25. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Cordell's part, Kinser T was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts T has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner G, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason C, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Erick will take on Chattanooga at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.8 runs per game on average), something the Bearcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cordell, they will square off against Riverside Indian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
