The Thrasher Rebels will challenge the Walnut Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Thrasher has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Walnut will arrive with three straight wins.
Thrasher came up short against Potts Camp on Monday, falling 16-6.
Delancy Sartain made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Brailey Bryan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Walnut took on Pine Grove on Monday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Brittan Dawkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, Baylee Spight and Addison Hicks did most of the damage at the plate: Spight went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles, while Hicks went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Spight's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brailee Quinn, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4.
Walnut always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Grove only posted an OBP of .062.
Walnut's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Thrasher, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.
