Baseball Game Preview: Woodlawn-B.R. Panthers vs. Independence Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Woodlawn-B.R. Panthers duke it out with Independence Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Woodlawn-B.R. didn't have quite enough to beat Independence and fell 6-5.

Klayton Tate and Cade Saurage stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tate scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Saurage scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Saurage a new career-high in doubles (two). Noah Arroyo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Even though they lost, Woodlawn-B.R. hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

With the win, Independence broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7. As for Woodlawn-B.R., they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
