Stevens Point extends home winning streak to ten

Recap: Stevens Point Panthers vs. Wausau West Warriors

The Stevens Point Panthers entered their tilt with the Wausau West Warriors with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Stevens Point took down Wausau West 71-53 on Friday. Given Stevens Point's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Wausau West is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wausau West's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Hager, who scored 14 points. Bennett Matteson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.

Stevens Point pushed their record up to 16-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Wausau West, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stevens Point will take on Marshfield at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Marshfield's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for Wausau West, they will be playing at home against Medford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
